UEFA Introduced Changes to the Champions League Format

UEFA introduced changes to the Champions League, and chose Zlatan Ibrahimovic to explain what the adjustments entail.

The former footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic was selected by UEFA to star in a video, where he explained the changes brought about by the new format of the Champions League.

As detailed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the video prepared by European football’s governing body, UEFA Champions League 2024/025 debuts a new format, which will remove the group stage.

The new edition of the continental tournament will be played under the league format in which Each of the 36 qualified teams will play eight games against eight different clubs. In this way, there will not be back and forth contests, but instead they will be played four home games and four away games.

The teams that finish in the first eight places will access the round of 16 directly while the clubs that finish between 9th and 24th in the general classification will play a round-trip elimination round, in order to define the other eight who will be in the round of 16.
