The three-on-three women’s basketball league Unrivaled announced a US$100 million Series C funding round on Wednesday, pushing its overall company valuation to US$650 million as it prepares for its third season. According to Associated Press reporting, the new capital nearly doubles the valuation of the startup league from a year ago when it closed its previous Series B funding round. Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell stated that the Series C raise exceeds all of the organization’s prior funding combined.

Ten Pillar Sports Fund Leads Oversubscribed Series C Round

The financing round was led by the Ten Pillar Sports Fund, which is backed by UC Investments. According to the official league site, the fundraising target surpassed US$100 million after the round was oversubscribed. Jagdeep Singh Bachher, chief investment officer for UC Investments, noted the growing commercial momentum behind women’s athletics. The moment for women’s sports is here, Bachher said, according to the Associated Press. Young people get it. We get it. Anyone who’s watched Unrivaled knows this game is every bit as thrilling as any other sport out there.

Player Equity Pool Expands Alongside League Growth

Along with the overall corporate valuation increase, Unrivaled reported that the portion of the company owned by its players is now valued at nearly US$200 million. League data shows that the player equity pool has grown by 550% since its inception. League co-founder Breanna Stewart emphasized the ownership model as a core pillar of the organization’s business structure. This raise reflects the confidence investors have in what we set out to build at Unrivaled: a league where the best players in the world have a real stake in the value they create, Stewart said, as reported by the Associated Press. Moving forward, this investment gives us even more resources to support our players, elevate the experience for fans, and grow a league that is shaping the future of women’s basketball.

Upcoming Schedule and Media Rights Context

Unrivaled operates with eight teams, staging the majority of its matches at a 1,000-seat arena in Miami. Beyond its home venue, the league expanded its footprint with sold-out tour stops in New York and Philadelphia, and organizers have scheduled eight tour stops for the 2027 calendar year. The competition operates under a six-year media rights agreement with TNT. Season three is scheduled to tip off in early January, following a previous campaign that ran concurrently with the Milan Cortina Olympics and the College Football Playoff, which impacted television ratings.
