The University of North Texas women’s tennis team set a new program record on April 9, 2026, by securing its 12th home win of the season in a 4-2 victory over Abilene Christian University. The match, held at the Waranch Tennis Complex in Denton, Texas, marked the final regular season home contest for the Mean Green.
With the victory, North Texas improved its overall season record to 15-7 and finished the home portion of their schedule with a 12-5 record.
Honoring Senior Leadership
Prior to the start of the match, the program celebrated departing senior Marina Adati, who played her final home match after four years in Denton.
The win today was a great way to close out the home season and honor Marina. She’s been such a significant piece in building the culture of this program and it’s really fitting that we set a record on her last home match.

Coach Stone also noted the contributions of Lilly and Giuliana in the back courts, as well as the continued performance of the doubles teams as the program prepares for the postseason.
Doubles Performance
North Texas continued its dominance in doubles, winning the doubles point for the ninth consecutive match. The team has now successfully secured the doubles point in 14 of its last 16 opportunities.
Pia Petelinsek and Carolina Laydner earned the first victory for UNT at line three with a 6-3 win. The pair now holds an 8-2 record as a combination this season and is 6-1 when playing at line three.
The doubles point was clinched by Lou Chalard and Lilly Schultz, who secured a 6-4 victory at line one. This duo has accumulated 13-4 as a combination this season, marking the most wins by a line one doubles team for the program since the 2017 season when Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze won 17.
From the Abilene Christian perspective, the duo of Angela Del Campo and Victoria Correa trailed 5-4 at No. 2 doubles when the match went unfinished, while Alice Klinteby and Jess Board fell 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. Masha Vrsalovic and Maria Cascos lost their match 6-4.
Singles Results
In the singles portion of the dual, North Texas secured the overall win by taking victories at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 positions.

Abilene Christian managed two singles victories. Angela Del Campo won a commanding match at No. 3 singles with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Elsa Luthar also secured a straight-sets victory at No. 6 singles, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Season Context and Outlook
The loss brought Abilene Christian’s season record to 8-12. The Wildcats had previously faced the Mean Green on February 20, 2026, in Abilene, where they lost 6-1.
Both teams are now moving toward the conclusion of their regular seasons and the upcoming conference tournament:
