Los Angeles-based teenage grunge band Untitled has released its highly anticipated second single, “Say It Again,” a raw and energetic follow-up to its breakout debut track, “Restless.” The new song, described as a “90s-flavoured slacker rock” anthem, reflects the band’s frustration with the music industry’s focus on metrics over artistry, a sentiment frontman Danny articulated in a recent statement.
The four-piece band, composed of West Los Angeles high school friends, wrote “Say It Again” in the same garage where they first began creating music together. The track premiered exclusively on BBC 6 Music’s New Music Fix Daily Show and is now available via GoodTalk and Create Music Group. The accompanying music video, directed by James Smith, captures the band’s signature energy, featuring performances in dingy bathrooms and in front of a frenzied live crowd.
From Viral Success to Industry Pushback
Untitled’s rise to prominence has been swift. Their debut single, “Restless,” released in late 2025, became the fastest-streaming rock song in the world, amassing over 40 million streams and more than 2 billion views on TikTok. The track’s viral success attracted attention from major record labels, but the band has remained independent, prioritizing creative control over commercial pressures.
In a statement about “Say It Again,” Danny, the band’s frontman and guitarist, addressed the challenges of navigating sudden fame while staying true to their roots. “At the time we wrote the song, we had some built-up frustrations about certain aspects of the music business, social media attention, and our inability to grasp how big the ‘Restless’ song actually was,” he said. “We just write stuff we love, and it felt like our song became just numbers on a screen. It’s all new to us, and honestly, we are more comfortable writing and playing in our garage than with numbers, stats, and algorithms.”
The garage where Untitled writes and records holds sentimental value for the band. Drummer Lorenzo explained that the space has been central to their journey, serving as the setting for their first TikTok video, their first recorded track, and even the music video for “Restless.” “Something about that room just works,” he noted.
Touring and Future Plans
Untitled is set to embark on a series of live performances this summer, including festival appearances and headlining shows. The band recently opened for legendary punk group Suicidal Tendencies, further cementing their reputation as one of the most exciting acts in the grunge revival scene. Their upcoming tour dates include:
- May 9: Sublime Me Gusta Festival, Fort Worth, TX
- May 12: Gold Diggers, Los Angeles, CA
- June 27: Sublime Me Gusta Festival, Portland, OR
- July 18: Sublime Me Gusta Festival, Salt Lake City, UT
The band has also announced plans to perform in the UK later this year, though specific dates have not yet been confirmed.
A New Wave of Grunge
Untitled has been hailed as a leader of the new wave of grunge acts, blending raw, unfiltered energy with strong melodic sensibilities. Critics have praised “Say It Again” for its dynamic urgency and authenticity, qualities that have resonated with fans of the genre. The band’s refusal to conform to industry expectations—prioritizing creative expression over algorithm-driven success—has further endeared them to audiences seeking a return to the raw, unpolished spirit of 90s rock.
As Untitled continues to gain momentum, their story serves as a reminder of the tension between artistic integrity and commercial success in the modern music landscape. With “Say It Again,” the band has not only delivered a powerful new track but also reaffirmed their commitment to staying true to their roots—both musically and literally, in the garage where it all began.
