Medellín’s Peak and Plate Rotation for Thursday, September 5, 2024
Medellín’s peak and plate rotation applies to private vehicles, including cars, trucks, campers, motorcycles, and ATVs, as well as two- and four-stroke motorcycles, tricycles, and mopeds.
Peak and plate hours are between 5:00 am and 8:00 pm.
Excluded Routes
The following roads are exempt from the peak and plate restriction:
- Río Road System, including South Highway, Regional Avenue, and Paralela Avenue
- Las Palmas Avenue and 33rd Avenue (from the river to its connection with Las Palmas)
- 10th Street (from the river to the South Terminal and its connection to the Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport)
- The sides of the La Iguaná gorge (between Carreras 63 and 80)
- The northern road of the Horacio Toro Bridge, between the connections that allow us to return south
Excluded Vehicles
The following vehicles are excluded from the peak and plate restriction:
- Hybrid, electric, and gas vehicles
- Vehicles for emergency care
- Vehicles that provide personal and/or home medical care
- Vehicles that carry out tasks related to organ and tissue salvage and transplantation
- Vehicles intended for the transport of food and/or perishable items, which are properly accredited and associated with commercial activity
- Cargo vehicles
- Vehicles intended for the provision of public services
- Vehicles owned by media outlets
- National security vehicles belonging to the Military Forces, the National Police, INPEC, and the Attorney General’s Office
- Vehicles intended for traffic control
- Vehicles transporting people with disabilities
- Vehicles for transporting valuables
- Vehicles with armor equal to or more than level 3
- Funeral cars
- Security company vehicles
- Diplomatic vehicles belonging to officials of international organizations
- Vehicles from car teaching centers located in one of the municipalities that are part of the Metropolitan Area
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Failure to comply with the peak and license plate measure results in the immobilization of the vehicle and a fine of 15 current legal minimum daily wages, equivalent to $650,000.
