Globalizing Namdo Ink Painting
Jeollanam-do Province has collaborated with the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles, USA, to host the 2024 Jeollanam-do Ink Special Exhibition, marking a significant step towards globalizing Namdo ink painting.
The exhibition, themed ‘Flowing Wind, Blown Wave,’ will run for five weeks until October 31st in Los Angeles, USA.
Exhibition Highlights
The exhibition coincides with the 51st LA Korean Festival (26th-29th) and aims to showcase the excellence and beauty of Namdo ink to the LA Korean community and citizens.
Renowned Korean artists, including Heo Dal-jae, Kim Cheon-il, Heo Jun, and Kim Ho-deuk, will feature their ink-and-wash works alongside French artist Laurent Grasso.
While maintaining traditional techniques, the works incorporate modern sensibilities, offering visitors a new artistic experience.
Modern ink painting breaks conventional wisdom by expanding its scope through various colors and media, moving beyond traditional light and shade techniques.
Globalization of Ink Painting
Building on its experience of hosting ink exhibitions in Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, India, Indonesia, and other locations, Jeollanam-do Province plans to continue globalizing ink painting by introducing it to various parts of the world, including the United States and Europe.
