Ali Lagami Scores Second Own Goal in Saudi National Football Team’s Match Against China
Ali Lagami, a defender for the Saudi national football team, has added another own goal to his record. During the second round of the third round of the Asian qualifying stage for the 2026 World Cup, Lagami scored against his own team, hitting a header past his teammate Mohamed Al Weiss, the goalkeeper, in a match against China on Tuesday.
The incident occurred 14 minutes into the match, when Lagami converted a Chinese corner into the Saudi net, opening the scoring. Al Weiss attempted to clear the ball but was unsuccessful.
This is not the first time Lagami has scored an own goal. He previously scored one for the “Arab” Champions Club in the group stage of the King Salman Cup on July 31, 2023, during his side’s 4–1 win over Tunisia’s Al-Ittihad Monastir.
Lagami has featured in 12 international matches and has scored a goal for Al-Akhdar against Jordan in the current qualifiers.
