Empowering Women in Technology: A Commitment to Equality

There are four key points of commitment to promote women’s empowerment in the technology sector, focusing on education and training, opportunities, justice and life, and protection against sexual violence.

Colombia’s Thriving Technology Sector: A Look to the Future

The Andicom 2024 Congress, held on September 6, concluded with a presentation by the Vice Minister of Digital Transformation, Belfort García, and the Director of the Digital Economy, María Lucía Flórez, highlighting the ICT Ministry’s initiatives to strengthen the technology industry in Colombia.

A notable achievement in the sector is the 24% increase in hiring of digital roles between 2018 and 2021 in Colombia, demonstrating the country’s growing demand for digital talent.

Key Drivers of Digital Transformation

The Ministry’s participation was instrumental in introducing the five drivers of the digital transformation strategy, aimed at consolidating innovation ecosystems in the country.

  • Promoting digital entrepreneurship, with an investment of $9 billion to support over 300 entrepreneurs.
  • Sophisticating technological solutions, with an allocation of over $20 billion to develop solutions in areas such as health, tourism, and trade.

García emphasized the pillars of this strategy, including Artificial Intelligence, digital education, and the strengthening of innovation ecosystems, with the goal of positioning Colombia as a “Digital Power”.
