This unique collection features 20 unsigned vintage original postcards and photographs of Montgomery, each relating to his visits to Gstaad, Switzerland, in the late 1940s and 1950s. Most of the photographs depict Montgomery outdoors on the ski slopes, accompanied by various people, including Paul Loosi, President of the Gstaad Ski Club and Gstaad Tourism Director. Some photographs also show him dining with a young man, presumably Lucien Troub.

Additional Items Included

In addition to the photographs, this collection includes letters and newspaper clippings, mostly in German, all relating to Montgomery’s visits to Gstaad, ski races, and other events. A typed manuscript of Loosi’s reminiscences of Montgomery is also included, with many revisions by Loosi.

Condition and Provenance

The items in this collection are in good to very good condition, with some minor wear and tear. The collection is a small quantity, making it a rare and unique find for collectors and historians.

Lucien Troub: A Personal Connection to Montgomery

Lucien Troub, a Swiss science writer, met Montgomery in Switzerland as a child of 12 in 1946. He later maintained a close relationship with the Field Marshal, making this collection a personal and significant find for those interested in Montgomery’s life and legacy.
