French club Nice recently held a press conference to introduce Egyptian star Mohamed Abdel Moneim as an official player of the team. During the press conference, Egyptian handball star Marwa Eid, a player on the French club’s women’s handball team, appeared and acted as a translator for the former Al-Ahly star.
Who is Marwa Eid Abdel Malik?
Marwa Eid Abdel Malik is a 28-year-old Egyptian handball player born on November 27, 1986, in the Sayyida Zeinab area of Cairo.
Marwa started her handball career at Zeinholm Youth Center in Eid and joined the Al-Ahly club at the age of 14, where she took her first steps towards glory and stardom in the world of Egyptian and international handball.
Professional Career
Marwa Eid joined the German women’s handball league, playing for the German team Bloomberg, but she did not stay with the team for long before returning to the Al-Ahly club.
After her return to Al-Ahly, Marwa received many European offers and moved to French side Hoenis Laroche, which participated in the French third division. She succeeded in joining the second division and later moved to Nice in 2020, where she continues to play.
Achievements
Marwa Eid’s brilliance with French club Aounis attracted the attention of several major European teams. She succeeded in captaining French side Nice, becoming the first Arab player in history to captain a European team.
On a personal level, Marwa Eid has achieved many individual achievements, including being the top scorer at the 2004 African Championship and being crowned Africa’s best left winger in the same year. She was also the top scorer in the French league for two consecutive seasons, scoring 249 goals in 2013–2014 and 195 goals in 2014–2015.
