Iman Khalif: The Algerian Boxer Making Waves on Social Media
Iman Khalif, the Algerian boxer, is still gaining momentum on social media, with users and accounts sharing a photo of her on the cover of Vogue magazine.
Iman appeared in traditional Algerian clothing, with boxing gloves on her hands, and was accompanied by the title: First Algerian, Arab, African woman to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games.
According to Agence France-Presse, Khalifa has been embroiled in controversy over her gender identity since participating in the Paris Olympics after being suspended by the International Boxing Federation, which cited her failure in a test aimed at determining her gender.
For the International Olympic Committee, her merit was not in doubt, as she was allowed to compete in women’s fights and became the first Algerian and African boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games.
On social media, Algerian boxing has been subjected to hate and misinformation campaigns linked to racism and presented as “a man fighting a woman”.
After examining the photo, it turned out to be a work of art, and not a cover photo for Vogue magazine.
The photo was posted on the Instagram platform on August 15 and was accompanied by hashtags revealing that it was a work of art.

The owner of the account, a graphic designer, Sheikh Bo Masareb, confirmed in a message on Instagram that he created artistic images using several applications, some of which use artificial intelligence.
He noted that the film was ”a product of his creativity” and was designed ”to honor his exceptional talent”.
