Rahul Gandhi shared a screenshot purportedly showing discrepancies in the voter list, specifically highlighting a voter named Aditya Srivastava. The UP CEO responded, stating that Aditya Srivastava, son of S.P. Srivastava, is indeed registered as a voter in the Lucknow East assembly seat. The CEO’s statement aimed to refute Gandhi’s claims by confirming the voter’s existence and details.
However,a closer examination reveals a more complex picture.
Our Investigation: Uncovering the discrepancies
We independently verified the information using the Election Commission of India’s website. Searching for Aditya Srivastava, son of S.P. Srivastava, under the ‘Search by Details’ option did indeed yield a result matching the details provided by the UP CEO – he is listed as a voter in the Lucknow East assembly seat.
However, we noticed a important anomaly: the EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) number associated with Aditya Srivastava’s name had changed. Initially, the screenshot shared by rahul Gandhi displayed one EPIC number, while the current listing on the Election Commission website shows a different one.
Specifically, the EPIC number initially shown was FPP6437040, which has now been updated to RXM4728275.
To further investigate, we cross-referenced the details with the Final Roll-2025 published by the Election Commission. We found that most details – including the polling station, serial number, and age of the voter – matched the information provided in the UP CEO’s statement. The only discrepancy remained the EPIC number.This change raises questions about the accuracy and completeness of the information released by the electoral officer.
