The US Army has signed a contract with Javelin Joint Venture (JV) for fiscal year 2024 for the production of Javelin missiles and related equipment and services worth a total of $1.3 billion, Ukrainian media reported this with reference to RTX Corporation press service.
The contract will be the largest for spearhead production to date.
It provides for the acquisition of Javelin weapon systems and production support for the US Army.
“Now more than ever, Javelin is recognized as the world’s most capable and battle-proven anti-tank weapon system,” said Andy Amaro, Javelin program director at Raytheon, an RTX company.
The contract also provides for the supply of more than 4,000 spears to replenish stocks sent to Ukraine.
Now the manufacturer has more than 25 international customers.
In total, more than 50 thousand spear missiles and more than 12 thousand reusable command launchers have been produced so far.
