U.S. Airstrike obliterates Iranian⁢ Nuclear Facilities

‍ ⁣ Updated June 22,2025
⁢

president Donald Trump announced Saturday night that a U.S. military⁢ operation, dubbed “Midnight Hammer,” had destroyed three Iranian nuclear facilities.the airstrike on Iran ⁢ involved a coordinated effort using both ‍stealth bombers and‍ cruise ‍missiles.

According to the Pentagon, the operation began with B-2 bombers departing from their Missouri base. To confuse Iranian ⁢defenses, some ⁢bombers headed toward Guam as decoys.⁣ Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed the decoy deployment.

The ⁤main strike force ⁤consisted of seven B-2 stealth⁢ bombers that flew eastward for 18 hours,‍ minimizing communication and refueling mid-air. The bombers approached Iran via the ⁢Mediterranean Sea, flying over Israel, Jordan, and iraq, ‍according to a Pentagon-released map.

As the bombers approached Iranian airspace around 5 p.m. ET, a U.S. submarine launched over two dozen ‍Tomahawk land⁢ attack cruise missiles. U.S. fighter jets acted as⁣ decoys, clearing the path for the bombers.

The‍ B-2⁣ bombers then released ⁢14 bunker-busting bombs, ‍each weighing 30,000 pounds. The U.S. military operation involved more than 125 aircraft, the ⁣Pentagon said.

In a televised address from the White House around 10 p.m. ET, President Trump stated that the strikes had “entirely and fully⁣ obliterated” the targeted Iranian⁢ nuclear facilities. However, defense officials noted that damage ⁣assessments were⁢ still underway.

WhatS next

U.S. defense officials are continuing to ⁢assess the full extent of⁣ the damage ⁤caused‍ by the airstrikes and monitoring the response from Iran and ‍the international community.
