US Flexes Military Muscle: Strategic Bombers and Destroyers Deployed to Middle East in Show of Force
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin reportedly ordered the deployment of additional bombers and Navy destroyers to the Middle East.
Four U.S. Department of Defense officials, who requested anonymity, told VOA on the 1st that Secretary Austin ordered the deployment of B-52 strategic bombers, aerial refueling tankers, and Navy destroyers to the Middle East.
These military measures come amid Israel’s current fierce conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The B-52 strategic bomber, one of the three major nuclear strategic assets of the United States, has already been deployed several times to keep Iran in check in the Middle East, and the U.S. government has called for a ceasefire to prevent the spread of war in the Middle East while simultaneously protecting Israel. We have maintained our position to defend and protect the interests of the United States and its allies.
According to U.S. Department of Defense officials, with the USS Abraham Lincoln, a U.S. aircraft carrier deployed in the Middle East, scheduled to return to its home base of San Diego in the middle of this month, Secretary Austin will be working in Europe or the Indo-Pacific region to fill the void that will arise after the aircraft carrier leaves. It is reported that there are plans to redeploy a destroyer capable of intercepting ballistic missiles to the Middle East.
