US House Approves HR 825: Bolivar Law to Support Venezuelan Opposition
U.S. Congress Approves HR 825, Known as the Bolívar Law
On November 18, 2024, Representative María Elvira Salazar announced that the U.S. House of Representatives approved HR 825, commonly called the Bolívar Law.
Salazar made this announcement via X, stating that the law provides “additional financial lifelines” to the Maduro regime in Venezuela. She emphasized that the legislation reaffirms U.S. support for the newly elected Venezuelan President Edmundo González Urrutia and commends existing sanctions against Maduro’s dictatorship.
In her message, she expressed gratitude to Congressman Mike Waltz and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for their support of the Venezuelan opposition during this critical time.
This law marks an important development in U.S. foreign policy regarding Venezuela.
