The United states has reiterated its strong support for India in its ongoing fight against terrorism. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau conveyed this message to an all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi tharoor in Washington. The discussions centered on India’s stance following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure.
The Indian delegation’s visit to Washington concluded a multi-nation tour focused on briefing key figures about Operation Sindoor, which addressed terror infrastructure in Pakistan and pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation followed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 fatalities. The U.S. support underscores the importance of the U.S.-India strategic relationship in addressing global security challenges, particularly the threat of cross-border terrorism.
The Indian Embassy stated on X that the delegation, led by tharoor, had a “warm and candid conversation” with Landau, briefing him on the “atrocities of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.”
Landau also posted on X, describing the meeting with the Indian parliamentary representatives as “GREAT.”
“I reaffirmed that the U.S.stands strong with India in the fight against terrorism. We discussed the U.S.-India strategic relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to foster growth and prosperity for both countries,” Landau saeid.
State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce issued a statement emphasizing the United States’ firm support of India in combating terrorism and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.The discussions also covered advancing key areas of the bilateral relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to promote economic growth and prosperity in both countries.
During the meeting,the delegation conveyed India’s firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism in all its forms,highlighting the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent Operation sindoor.
The delegation also met with Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator Cory Booker. Both senators expressed their support for India’s right to defend itself against repeated terror attacks.
