US Lawyer Runs Taipei Marathon, Secures Second Place

U.S. Lawyer Runs too Second place in Taipei Marathon

Taipei, Taiwan – Zhang​ Jian, a practicing lawyer ‍from Washington, D.C., made an‌ notable showing at the Taipei Marathon on December 15th, securing second place among Taiwanese women and finishing 12th overall wiht​ a time of 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 54 seconds.

Zhang, who only began‍ running in 2021, has quickly become a force in the marathon​ world. Earlier this year, she‍ completed the Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 15 seconds, followed by ⁢the Berlin Marathon in an impressive 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 08​ seconds, a time that ⁤ranked her first among Taiwanese women.

This Taipei Marathon marked Zhang’s first race in Asia and her first time participating in ​the event.⁤ “The track is really cozy⁤ and stunning, and the people cheering‍ along the road are also very happy,” she shared in an interview with the Central News Agency.

Zhang praised⁢ the optimized route, which took runners through the streets of taipei and even onto a highway. “It’s a special experience to be able to run on the streets of Taipei city,” ⁢she said. “What’s more interesting is that you can also run⁢ on the highway, ‍but the wind is really strong on the viaduct.”

For Zhang, running is more than just a sport; ⁢it’s a way to de-stress from her demanding legal career. “Being a ​lawyer‌ in the United States is ⁢stressful,so‍ I rely on running to relieve stress,” she explained. “I‍ usually practice running ​at 7 in the morning.At this ‌time,I don’t have to answer calls from the ‍boss or​ read messages on my phone. I start my day with [a run].”

Despite not engaging in high-intensity training ​since‍ the berlin Marathon, Zhang⁣ expressed satisfaction with her Taipei Marathon⁢ performance. Looking ahead,she plans to focus on the ⁤Chicago Marathon next year,aiming to break her personal best of 2 hours and 48 minutes.
