Qualifying Delays
Persistent rainfall at the US Open in New York City forced a complete cancellation of Wednesday’s qualifying matches. Tournament officials made the announcement in the afternoon after play was briefly halted for approximately 45 minutes with six men’s matches already underway.
The delay impacts a number of players vying for a spot in the main draw, including rising #NextGenATP stars Dino Prizmic, Alexander Blockx, rei Sakamoto, Martin Landaluce, and Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez. Experienced players still in contention include Bernard Tomic, Lloyd Harris, and Jan-Lennard Struff.
mixed Doubles to Proceed as Planned
Despite the disruption to the qualifying rounds, the mixed doubles competition remains on track. The semi-finals and final are still scheduled to take place Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m. ET inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The evening’s matches will feature compelling pairings: Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula will face Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek, followed by Christian Harrison and Danielle Collins against Andrea Vavassori and Sara Errani.
