US Protests Erupt After ICE Agent Kills Woman

US Protests Erupt After ICE Agent Kills Woman

January 10, 2026 Robert Mitchell - News Editor of Newsdirectory3.com News

Groups of civil liberties and immigrant rights activists have called for hundreds of national demonstrations this ‌Saturday to protest the death ⁢of an activist last Wednesday in Minnesota by the shots of an agent, while state authorities have launched their own investigation into the incident.

More details

Organizers said more than 1,000⁤ events were planned across the country over the weekend to demand⁣ an end to the widespread deployments of Immigration and ⁢Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents ordered by President Donald Trump, especially in cities led by Democratic politicians. Minneapolis became one of the moast contentious focal points of the militarized deportation rounds pushed by the Republican president, after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman and mother of three, while she was behind the wheel of her ⁢car, on a residential street.

The violent incident occurred shortly⁤ after about 2,000 ⁤federal agents were sent to Minneapolis by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS

A shooting involving Immigration ‌and Customs enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis has ignited ⁤a fresh wave of tension, fueled by conflicting accounts of the incident. The shooting, which occurred on ⁣January 7, 2026, left one woman dead ⁣and sparked immediate disagreement over whether ⁢the use of force ⁣was‍ justified.

Federal authorities claim Selene Good, the woman killed, ‍was “obstructing” and “harassing” ICE agents throughout the day.⁢ they allege the agent ⁤fired in self-defense after Good attempted to ram her car into him, characterizing it as an “act of domestic terrorism.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, ⁤a democrat, quickly challenged that narrative. He pointed to video footage from a bystander that⁢ he says directly contradicts‍ the federal government’s version of events. Civil liberties advocates echoed Frey’s concerns, arguing the‌ video demonstrates the agents had no justification for using lethal force.

The starkly different accounts prompted Minnesota authorities and Hennepin County officials to launch their own criminal investigations on Friday, separate from the federal investigation led by the⁢ FBI. The move comes as ⁣some Trump administration officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, have asserted state ⁣prosecutors lack jurisdiction to charge a federal agent⁤ with a crime. Legal experts, however, dispute this claim, stating federal immunity isn’t automatic in such cases.

The escalating crisis led⁤ Minnesota Governor‍ Tim‌ Walz‍ – a prominent critic of Trump – to‍ place the state’s National Guard on alert.

The ‌situation ⁢remains fluid as investigations continue. Key questions remain unanswered, including:

  • What specifically prompted the ICE agents to engage with good?
  • What does the bystander video definitively show?
  • Will state and federal investigations reach the same conclusions?

This incident adds to‌ the already heightened political climate surrounding immigration enforcement and federal-state relations in the United States.
