Israeli Army Launches Widespread Attacks in Eastern and Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced that it had carried out widespread attacks in eastern and southern Lebanon on September 25.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement at 11:00 a.m. local time, stating that it was “conducting widespread air strikes throughout southern Lebanon and the Beqaa area.” The IDF confirmed that it attacked more than 100 targets in the neighboring country during the day.

Lebanon’s national news agency NNA confirmed that towns and villages near the city of Nabatiyeh in the south and in the Beqaa valley in the east of the country were subjected to intense aerial bombardment by Israel. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reports that at least 10 victims were killed and 29 others were injured in these airstrikes by Tel Aviv forces.

The Israeli army then posted updated information about the discovery of about 40 projectiles aimed at shooting from Lebanon into the country’s territory on the morning of September 25. The local air defense system successfully intercepted several projectiles, but one projectile hit a civilian support facility near the city of Safed, northern Israel. The IDF further noted that no casualties were reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Islamic armed group Hezbollah in Lebanon announced that it had launched missiles at a series of targets in northern Israel, including a military base near Ilaniya in the Lower Galilee region; the town of Hatzor near Safed; IDF Northern Command headquarters in Safed; Kibbutz Sa’ar area near Nahariya and Kiryat Motzkin near Haifa. Hezbollah also confirmed that it aimed a missile at the headquarters of the Mossad intelligence agency in central Israel on the morning of September 25.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that two Israelis were injured on Kibbutz Sa’ar because they were hit by rockets while trying to find cover.

Iran’s Leader Talks About Hezbollah’s Losses

On the same day, Iran’s state news agency (IRNA) quoted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying that Israel’s killing of Hezbollah leaders is “definitely a loss” for this Islamic armed group in Lebanon. However, Mr. Khamenei asserted that this was not enough to destroy the group.

“Hezbollah’s organizational and personnel strength is more than that. Their power, ability, strength far exceeds being seriously damaged by such martyrdoms,” the Iranian supreme leader emphasized.

Mr. Khamenei also blamed the United States for Israel’s attacks on Lebanon. He accused Washington of “pretending not to be involved” but needs the IDF to win the conflict before the US presidential election in November this year.

US and Israeli officials have not yet responded to the above comments of the Iranian supreme leader.
