US to Present Final Ceasefire Plan to Israel and Hamas
The United States, mediating the ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip, is reportedly discussing ways to deliver a final plan to Israel and Hamas soon.
According to an anonymous government official cited by The Washington Post, ”they plan to present a final agreement that will be either accepted or rejected soon.” The official stressed that a decision must be made at some point, saying the U.S.-led ceasefire could end if both sides do not accept the final deal.
President Biden is planning to convene a meeting of his national security team to decide on a strategy to finally pressure a negotiation agreement. White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said during a video conference with the families of the seven American hostages that the administration is considering delivering a final offer to both sides later this week.
National Security Adviser Sullivan expressed hope that a ceasefire and the release of hostages would be achieved within two weeks. The US-led efforts aim to bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
