The Trump Administration has finalized its first sale of Venezuelan oil since a military operation in Venezuela led to the capture of President nicolás Maduro. The sale is valued at $500 million,with additional sales anticipated in the coming weeks,according to a Trump Administration official who confirmed the deal to TIME.
“President Trump brokered a historic energy deal with Venezuela,promptly following the arrest of narcoterrorist Nicolás Maduro,that will benefit the American and Venezuelan people,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers saeid in a statement to TIME.
