Netherlands Prepare for T20 World Cup Challenges

February 13, 2026 – The Netherlands national cricket team is gearing up for a demanding schedule at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, currently underway in India and Sri Lanka. The Dutch squad has already established a training base in both Mumbai and Chennai, acclimatizing to the local conditions and engaging in practice matches against the Chennai Super Kings Academy, according to recent reports.

The Netherlands have qualified for their sixth consecutive T20 World Cup, securing their place through the European Qualifiers where they defeated Italy in the final. They find themselves in a challenging Group A alongside defending champions India, Pakistan, the United States of America, and Namibia.

Upcoming Fixtures

The team’s group stage schedule is packed with high-profile matches. They began their campaign against Pakistan on February 7th at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. A match against Namibia followed on February 10th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Today, February 13th, they face the United States at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Their group stage concludes with a highly anticipated clash against hosts India on February 18th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Squad Details

Scott Edwards will lead the Netherlands squad, which includes Colin Ackermann, Noah Croes, Bas de Leede, Aryan Dutt, Fred Klaassen, Kyle Klein, Michael Levitt, Zach Lion-Cachet, Max O’Dowd, Logan van Beek, Timm van der Gugten, Roelof van der Merwe, Paul van Meekeren, and Saqib Zulfiqar.

Experience a Key Strength

The Netherlands bring a wealth of experience to the tournament, having first qualified for the T20 World Cup in 2009. Since 2014, they have been consistent participants, competing in the 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, and 2024 editions, as well as this year’s tournament. This sustained presence at the T20 World Cup level is expected to be a significant advantage, preventing the team from being overwhelmed by the occasion and potentially enabling them to perform at their best.

Logan van Beek is the most experienced player in the squad, having made 20 appearances in the tournament.

Preparation and Warm-up

Beyond their training camps, the Netherlands are also utilizing warm-up matches to fine-tune their preparations. They will face Zimbabwe and Australia in these preparatory games before the start of the main competition.

The ICC Digital Insider Surbhi Vaid recently previewed the clash between USA and Netherlands, highlighting the importance of this match within the context of the tournament.
