USI Swimming & Diving Set to Compete at A3 Performance Invitational

USI Swimming and Diving Heads to A3 Performance Invitational

Location and Dates

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) Swimming and Diving team will compete in the A3 Performance Invitational from November 14 to November 16 at Shea Natatorium in Carbondale, Illinois.

Meet Overview

This is the third consecutive year that USI participates in this event. They will face familiar rivals such as Eastern Illinois University, the University of Evansville, Bellarmine University, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Indiana State University (diving only), and Southern Illinois University (SIU).

Previous Performance

In previous years, the Salukis from SIU won the event in 2022 and 2023. The USI men’s team finished sixth in 2022 and fifth in 2023, showing a significant improvement with a total point increase of 147. The USI women’s team also placed fifth in both years, improving their score by 11 points.

Schedule

  • Thursday:

    • Prelims: 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, One-Meter Dive (10 a.m.)
    • Finals: 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 400 Medley Relay (5 p.m.)
  • Friday:

    • Prelims: 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 800 Freestyle Relay (Timed Final), Three-Meter Dive
    • Finals: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke (5 p.m.)
  • Saturday:
    • Prelims: 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 1650 Freestyle
    • Finals: 1650 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Freestyle Relay (4 p.m.)

Men’s Team Highlights

The USI men’s team faces challenges after losses to Bellarmine and Evansville. They have set four individual records this season. Freshman Jude Winnington holds the record for the 400 IM at 4:12.46. Junior Lane Pollock achieved a school record in the one-meter dive with a score of 273.38. Sophomore Nathan Deputy set a new personal best with a score of 278.33 in the three-meter dive.

Women’s Team Highlights

The USI women’s team has secured three victories this fall, including their first win over Evansville, 137-99. They have broken three individual records. Freshman Elizabeth Ketcham set a record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 57.71. Freshman Anna Bunnell holds records in the one-meter (226.88) and three-meter (238.05) dives. Ketcham and her teammates also set the 200 Freestyle Relay record at 1:39.21.
