Washington D.C. – A powerful coalition of U.S. Agricultural groups has launched a concerted campaign to secure the renewal of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), as the trade pact faces potential disruption amid renewed scrutiny from the Trump administration. The effort underscores the significant economic stakes for the American agricultural sector, which relies heavily on exports to its North American partners.

The Agricultural Coalition for USMCA, comprising some 40 organizations representing farmers, ranchers, food producers, and processors, formally unveiled its initiative on February 5, 2026. The campaign includes advertising, research, and lobbying efforts aimed at influencing key decision-makers in Washington, including members of Congress, senior White House officials, and President Donald Trump himself.

The coalition’s push comes as the USMCA approaches its mandatory review in July 2026, a process stipulated in the agreement. Under the terms of the pact, signed in 2018 and implemented in 2020, the three nations must decide whether to renew the agreement, renegotiate its terms, or allow it to expire in 2036. Failure to reach an agreement could lead to a period of annual consultations with no clear path forward, creating significant uncertainty for the agricultural economy.

“USMCA is one of President Trump’s signature achievements and one that has significantly propelled the ag economy,” said Bryan Goodman, a spokesperson for the coalition. “We are not saying it’s perfect, as some changes are warranted, but we are saying This proves of paramount importance to farmers that all three countries renew the agreement.”

The timing of the campaign is particularly sensitive, as President Trump has repeatedly questioned the benefits of free trade agreements and has previously threatened to withdraw the U.S. From the USMCA. Bloomberg News reported on February 11, 2026, that Trump has discussed with advisors the possibility of withdrawing from the agreement.

The coalition is emphasizing the economic benefits of the USMCA for rural America, a key voting bloc for Trump and Republicans. According to an economic analysis released by the group, Canada and Mexico represent approximately one-third of the value of U.S. Agricultural exports globally. In 2024, agricultural and seafood exports to Canada and Mexico generated $149 billion in U.S. Economic activity and supported $36 billion in wages.

The value of U.S. Agricultural exports to Canada and Mexico has increased by 47 percent since the USMCA came into effect in 2020, a rate of growth significantly higher than the 18 percent increase in exports to the rest of the world during the same period. “The economic benefits of USMCA drive investment, strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. Producers in global markets, and keep family farms, small businesses, and employers operating,” the coalition’s analysis states.

The campaign is utilizing a multi-pronged approach, including targeted advertising in Washington D.C. And digital ads on platforms like Truth Social, President Trump’s social media network. “Our goal is to make sure everyone in the political world and in the executive branch understands what we’re really talking about,” said Nancy Martínez, a spokesperson for the coalition and director of the National Corn Growers Association.

While broadly supportive of the USMCA framework, some sectors within the agricultural industry are seeking specific changes during the review process. The U.S. Dairy industry, for example, is advocating for improvements to address market access issues in Canada. “USMCA is an extremely strong agreement, but it’s not perfect,” explained Shawna Morris, executive vice president of trade policy for the National Milk Producers Federation. “The USMCA review offers a golden opportunity to make some specific improvements so the agreement can reach its full intended potential.”

The agricultural industry’s lobbying efforts follow similar appeals from a diverse range of U.S. Industries, including manufacturers, retailers, and construction, who have urged the Trump administration to maintain the trade agreement during recent hearings in Washington. The coalition’s campaign reflects a growing sense of urgency among businesses and agricultural groups to protect the economic benefits of the USMCA as the review period approaches.

The future of the USMCA remains uncertain, but the agricultural coalition’s campaign signals a determined effort to ensure the agreement continues to support the U.S. Farm economy and maintain stable trade relationships with Canada and Mexico.
