UT Martin Volleyball’s Surratt Achieves All-OVC Second Team Honors: A Historic Milestone
Kylie Surratt Achieves All-OVC Recognition
Kylie Surratt, a freshman volleyball player at the University of Tennessee at Martin, has been named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team. This recognition highlights her outstanding performance during her first season. Surratt is one of only three freshmen to receive All-OVC honors this year.
The 6-foot outside hitter led her team in kills with 292, a significant achievement that ranks her third among freshmen in the school’s NCAA Division I Era. She is the first Skyhawk freshman to earn All-OVC team status.
In conference play, Surratt ranked seventh in kills with an average of 3.18 per set and eighth in points with 3.52 per set. Overall, she finished ninth in the OVC in kills, averaging 2.98 per set. She also contributed with 191 digs, 30 blocks, 17 service aces, and 15 assists.
Surratt led the Skyhawks in kills during 15 out of 27 matches this season, hitting double figures in kills 14 times. Notably, she recorded a career-high 20 kills and hit .375 against Lindenwood on October 19. This marked the first time a Skyhawk freshman has achieved 20 kills in a match since 2011.
She achieved two double-doubles this season, including 15 kills and 13 digs against Grambling, and 16 kills with a career-high 18 digs against Southern Illinois. Surratt also reached double-digit digs five times and had multiple blocks in eight matches.
For her achievements, Surratt was named OVC Freshman of the Week three times, the first player in UT Martin history to earn this honor more than once. She also made the Skyhawk Classic All-Tournament team.
