The outbreak, which began over a year ago and originated in Texas, has now spread to most states across the country, marking the end of the period when measles was considered eliminated in the United States.
According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, the state has recorded 602 measles cases since the outbreak began, with 19 new infections reported in the most recent update. Of these, 405 cases have occurred since January 1, 2026, and 75 have been identified in the past three weeks. Forty-nine individuals have required hospitalization due to complications from the virus.
