UTPB Swimmers Earn First-Ever RMAC Weekly Awards
UTPB Swimmers Make History with RMAC Weekly Honors
ODESSA, Texas – The UT Permian Basin swimming and diving program is making waves, earning its first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic conference (RMAC) weekly awards.Sophomore Colin Doyle was named RMAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while senior Kathe Hepfer secured the RMAC Women’s Diver of the Week award for the week ending December 8, 2024.
Doyle dominated the pool in the Falcons’ double-dual victories against Austin College and McMurry University. He claimed individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle (21.72) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.30), also contributing to a victory in the 200-medley relay and a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.20).”Colin is becoming a real leader on this team,” said Head Coach Brian Schroeder. “He is one of the hardest workers on the team and pushes himself and others.”
Hepfer continued her remarkable season, scoring 193.95 to win the 1-meter diving event against Austin College and McMurray University.
“Kathe Hepfer is a talented diver and is a great teammate,” said Assistant Coach Anna James. “She brings energy into every practice and provides an excellent example of leadership as our team captain.”
This marks the first time in program history that a UTPB swimmer has been recognized by the RMAC with a weekly award. Hepfer, meanwhile, earns the award for the second time in her career, previously receiving the honour on January 24, 2024.the double recognition also marks the first time UTPB has earned two RMAC awards in the same week in program history, signifying a major milestone for the Falcons’ swimming and diving program.

Doyle secured the RMAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week award after a dominant showing in the Falcons’ double-dual victories against Austin College and McMurry University.
