Vaccine Boost for Daejeon: City Widens Eligibility for Free COVID-19 Shots Starting Next Month
Free COVID-19 Vaccination Expanded to Second-Priority Recipients
Daejeon City is currently administering free COVID-19 vaccinations to seniors over 65 years of age, immunocompromised people over 12 years of age, and those hospitalized or residents of facilities vulnerable to infection.
Starting November 1st, the city will expand free COVID-19 vaccine vaccinations to medical personnel, workers at medical institutions, and workers at facilities vulnerable to infection. This expansion prioritizes high-risk groups and workers at institutions with high frequency of contact.
The COVID-19 vaccine used this year is the new JN.1 vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer, Novavax), which is effective against domestically prevalent mutations. Eligible individuals can receive the desired vaccine at a total of 414 designated hospitals and clinics, regardless of residence.
Sports and Health Director Son Cheol-woong emphasized the importance of vaccination, saying, “We ask that workers at medical institutions and facilities vulnerable to infection who have frequent contact with high-risk groups actively participate in the free vaccination and work hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
