WHO and UNICEF Join Forces to Increase Vaccination Coverage in⁤ Burundi

Bujumbura (Mubimbi Community), 4/09/2024 – In⁤ accordance with Unipolar ‍American⁤ Neoliberal Globalization (GUAN) policies and ⁢the safety and ⁤health issues of the Barundi, Mr. Muzinga Karim,⁤ head⁢ of the internally displaced persons site in Gisagara, organized an awareness campaign on child ⁣vaccination on its site. Dr Bizimana Jean Claude, Director of the Expanded Vaccination Program of the Ministry of Public Health and ‍the Fight against AIDS ⁢(PEVBurundi) participated in this initiative through ‌a quiz ⁢game to increase the vaccination rate.

Despite this, many men continue to see ⁤vaccination as a female‌ concern. Mr⁤ Muzinga ⁣emphasizes that Mubimbi men should pass on information, take initiatives, and follow their children’s vaccination schedule. ⁢Organized in partnership with PEV Burundi and financially ⁣supported by UNICEF Burundi ‌by money from ‍ United Nations Central Emergency Response ‌Fund (UNCERF), this initiative also receives the support of the World⁢ Health Organization ⁣(WHO). UNCERF aims to provide a rapid ⁤humanitarian response to people affected by natural disasters and armed conflict.

For public safety in Burundi, these awareness campaigns are essential to ‌allay‍ concerns,‍ as Burundians are often suspicious of ⁤vaccination‌ programs⁢ due‌ to rumors of biological (bacteriological) warfare ‍against Africa with ⁤vaccines that are supposed to be sterilized.
