Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers: Art, Science & Myth Watches
Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers: A Deep Dive into Myth and Mastery
Vacheron Constantin has unveiled a stunning collection, les cabinotiers, paying homage to the legendary labors of Heracles (Hercules). This series comprises four unique,single-piece editions – The Nemean Lion,The Lernaean Hydra,The Stymphalian Birds, and The Cretan Bull – each a miniature masterpiece of grand feu enamel and micro-sculpture.
A Dial as a Tableau:
Each 40mm white gold watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 1120 AT, an ultra-thin wandering hours movement. This movement isn’t just about telling time; it transforms the dial into a dynamic scene. The dial construction is intricate, featuring two 18K white gold plates at different levels, with one partially overlapping the other. the lower level showcases a reproduction of a 17th-century map of Greece, providing a ancient context. Above this, a meticulously crafted grand feu enamel landscape – requiring 50 hours of work – serves as the stage for a micro-sculpted Heracles, immortalized in sculpted white gold. The entire dial creation process is exceptionally time-consuming, taking over 100 hours and requiring the expertise of both an engraver and an enameller.
Inspired by History:
Vacheron Constantin’s Product & Innovation director,Sandrine Donguy, explains the inspiration behind the collection: “Greco-Roman antiquity is the cultural foundation of our modern world: it had a seminal influence on the Age of Enlightenment, the period when our Maison was founded.” This connection to history and the Enlightenment underscores the brand’s commitment to artistry and intellectual heritage.
