The Vietnam’s Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) and The Investor will host a workshop focused on amending the government’s Decree 06, which covers horse racing, greyhound racing, and international football betting services.
This workshop addresses the need for updated legal frameworks as the betting industry generates significant global revenue, with figures reaching hundreds of billions of dollars. Currently, betting services in Vietnam face challenges under Decree 06/2017/ND-CP, which hinders the sector’s growth.
On April 8, 2024, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1035. This resolution tasks the Government and the Ministry of Finance with revising legal frameworks for lottery, betting, casino, and prize gaming services. Amendments to Decree 06 are required to be finalized by 2025.
The workshop aims to strengthen legal policies for horse racing, greyhound racing, and international football betting services. It will occur on Thursday, November 28, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Ministry of Planning and Investment building, located at 65 Van Mieu street, Dong Da district, Hanoi.
Attendees will include National Assembly members, ministry representatives, experts, business association leaders, and both international and domestic businesses.
