The findings, published in the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, suggest a potential shift toward a less invasive diagnostic pathway for women experiencing symptoms of endometrial cancer.

The research was announced by PinkDx, known as The Gyne Cancer Company™. The study aimed to challenge the long-standing belief in gynecologic oncology that meaningful molecular insights into endometrial cancer require the direct sampling of the uterus.

The Role of Vaginal Swabs in Detection

The study found that vaginal swabs provided a sufficient signal to detect endometrial cancer through the use of RNA-based machine learning. Because of these results, the vaginal swab was selected as the primary sample type for a subsequent study, identified as PNK002, which aims to further develop and validate a test for the malignancy.
