French automotive supplier Valeo celebrated two decades of operations in Egypt on April 20, 2026, marking the anniversary of its initial establishment in the country in 2006.

The milestone reflects Valeo’s sustained investment in Egypt’s manufacturing sector, particularly in the production of thermal systems, lighting components, and wiper systems for both domestic and export markets.

Valeo Egypt currently operates two production facilities: one in the 6th of October City industrial zone near Cairo, focused on climate control and visibility systems, and another in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, specializing in electrical components and power train systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.

The company employs over 3,200 people across its Egyptian operations, making it one of the largest private-sector industrial employers in the country. More than 40% of its workforce is engaged in engineering, research and development, and technical support roles, reflecting a strategic shift toward higher-value activities beyond basic assembly.

Valeo’s local production serves both regional demand and international supply chains. Approximately 65% of output from its Egyptian plants is exported to Europe, Turkey, and other African markets, while the remainder supplies original equipment manufacturers operating in Egypt, including Peugeot, Renault, and local assemblers of Chinese and Korean brands.

Over the past two decades, Valeo has invested more than $280 million in capital expenditures in Egypt, including upgrades to automation, energy efficiency systems, and workforce training programs. The company has also partnered with Egyptian technical institutes to develop specialized curricula in mechatronics and automotive electronics.

In 2023, Valeo Egypt received certification from the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade for achieving “Green Factory” status at its 6th of October facility, recognizing reductions in carbon emissions, water recycling rates, and waste-to-landfill diversion exceeding national benchmarks.

The anniversary was marked by a ceremony at the company’s Cairo headquarters attended by senior executives from Valeo’s global management committee, Egyptian government officials, and representatives from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which has supported Valeo’s sustainability initiatives in North Africa through advisory financing.

Valeo’s Egypt operations are integrated into its global “Drive for 2030” strategy, which aims to increase localization in emerging markets to 35% of total production by 2030, up from 22% in 2023. Egypt is designated as a regional hub for thermal and visibility systems serving Africa and the Middle East.

As of 2025, Valeo reported global revenue of €22.1 billion, with emerging markets contributing 18% of total sales. Africa and the Middle East accounted for 4.3% of group revenue, with Egypt representing the largest single-country contributor in the region.

The company continues to monitor local economic conditions, including foreign exchange volatility and import regulations affecting raw material sourcing. Valeo has stated that its long-term commitment to Egypt remains unchanged, citing the country’s strategic location, improving infrastructure, and growing skilled labor base as key advantages.
