The Vancouver Canucks have narrowed their search for a new general manager to two finalists, according to reporting from Daily Hive.

Evan Gold, who serves as the assistant general manager of the Boston Bruins and the general manager of the Providence Bruins, has emerged as a primary candidate and a finalist for the position.

According to Sportsnet, Gold was in Vancouver during the week of May 8, 2026, to be interviewed for the role. His availability for the process increased following the elimination of the Providence Bruins from the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The search for a new general manager has lasted three weeks. The process began with a shortlist of five names, which has since been whittled down to the current two finalists.

Prior to the final narrowing of the list, Sportsnet identified three candidates believed to be near the top of the list for Canucks ownership: Evan Gold, Scott White, and Ryan Johnson.

Rick Dhaliwal, reporting for Sportsnet, described Gold as a good, young, sharp hockey mind. Dhaliwal also noted that an agent characterized Gold as a tough negotiator.
