Vanderbilt AD Joins Women’s Basketball Committee
New Members Named to NCAA Women’s Basketball Committee
The NCAA announced the appointment of three new members to the Division I Women’s Basketball Committee: Candice Storey Lee, athletic director at Vanderbilt; Jill Redmond, Missouri Valley Conference deputy commissioner; and Colleen Sorem, interim athletic director for Maryland. These changes bring fresh perspectives to the important work of the women’s basketball committee.
Lee is stepping into the role previously held by Derita Dawkins of Arkansas, who served as committee chair in 2024-25. Redmond fills the vacancy left by Lizzie Gomez, while Sorem takes over for Deneé Barracato of Northwestern, who has transitioned to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The NCAA women’s basketball landscape is ever-evolving, and these appointments reflect that.
Redmond and Sorem are beginning their terms immediately. Lee’s term will commence on Sept. 1. The women’s college basketball committee plays a crucial role in shaping the sport.
Amanda Braun, athletic director at Milwaukee, will chair the 12-member committee in 2025-26. Other committee members include Vicky Chun (Yale), Liz Darger (Brigham Young), Jill Bodensteiner (Saint Joseph’s), Amy Folan (Central Michigan), Alex Gary (Western Carolina), Josh Heird (Louisville), Jeff Konya (San Jose State), and Lynn Tighe (villanova).
What’s next
The newly composed committee will continue its work in overseeing and developing policies related to Division I women’s basketball, with Braun set to take the helm as chair in the coming year.
