Varkė Labdarkė’s Unusual Housewarming Gift to ‘Žemaitukai’ Star

Varkė Labdarkė’s Unusual Housewarming Gift to ‘Žemaitukai’ Star

February 25, 2026 Dr. Jennifer Chen Health

Lithuanian content creator Tadas Kanapeckas, known as Varkė Labdarkė, recently gifted a newlywed couple with an unconventional housewarming present: 100 kilograms of unsorted secondhand clothing. The gesture, documented in a lighthearted video shared on social media, has sparked amusement and discussion.

The recipients, Linas Vaitkevičius, a member of the musical group “Žemaitukai,” and his wife Rūta, were visibly surprised by the unusual offering. “Notice people who bring nice scents as housewarming gifts…” Linas remarked, according to reports. Varkė Labdarkė playfully responded, “Stick your head in, you’ll see what the scents are like.”

The large quantity of clothing required assistance to carry into the couple’s new home, prompting Varkė Labdarkė to joke that winning the musical competition “Žvaigždžių duetai” didn’t mean he could manage the task alone. The video shows the group bringing the bags of clothes inside.

Rūta expressed hope of finding a vacation dress or vintage jacket amongst the pile, while also voicing a practical concern: “I hope there aren’t any bedbugs.” Linas echoed the sentiment, hoping to find something to wear to an after-party following a “Žemaitukai” concert or for a tennis match, noting that they were running low on clothing options.

Varkė Labdarkė reassured them that bedbugs were unlikely, but couldn’t entirely rule out the possibility of other unwanted guests. He emphasized his hope that Rūta would find something she liked and that he and Linas would each find at least one useful item. He promised to share an update on what they ultimately discovered within the large donation.

This unusual gift highlights a growing trend towards more sustainable and unconventional gifting practices. While traditional housewarming gifts often include items for the home, such as candles, kitchenware, or decorative pieces, the choice of secondhand clothing offers a unique and environmentally conscious alternative.

The practice of gifting secondhand items is gaining traction as awareness of the environmental impact of fast fashion increases. The textile industry is a significant contributor to pollution and waste, and extending the life cycle of clothing through reuse and repurposing is seen as a way to mitigate these effects. Donating or gifting used clothing reduces the demand for new production, conserving resources and minimizing landfill waste.

However, receiving a large quantity of used clothing also presents practical considerations. Sorting through the items, washing them, and determining what to keep or donate requires time and effort. As Rūta’s concern about bedbugs illustrates, hygiene is also a key factor. Thorough cleaning and inspection are essential when accepting secondhand clothing to prevent the introduction of pests or allergens.

The story also touches upon the recent success of Varkė Labdarkė in the Lithuanian musical competition “Žvaigždžių duetai. Nauja era,” which he won alongside Dainotas Varnu. The win garnered attention, with some praising the duo while others questioned the fairness of the outcome. Varkė Labdarkė acknowledged receiving criticism but chose to disregard negative comments, stating that he had learned from previous victories that such reactions are common.

Beyond the novelty of the gift itself, the incident offers a glimpse into the personal lives of Varkė Labdarkė and the Vaitkevičius couple. Varkė Labdarkė and his wife Neringa recently welcomed a son, adding to their family which already includes a daughter, Jazmina. He has previously spoken about the importance of a father’s involvement in childbirth.

The playful exchange captured in the video and reported in the media demonstrates a lighthearted approach to both gifting and everyday life. While the practicality of 100 kilograms of secondhand clothing remains to be seen, the gesture undoubtedly provided a memorable and amusing housewarming experience for Linas and Rūta Vaitkevičius.
