An army colonel who fought during the U.S. Operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has died, Venezuelan officials confirmed on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
The death was announced by Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela’s interim president, who confirmed the colonel’s passing in statements reported by multiple Venezuelan news outlets including El Nacional, Noticias Barquisimeto, Diario Versión Final, ultimasnoticias.com.ve, and teleSUR.
