Venezuelan Model Fabiola Martínez Reveals Childhood Sexual Abuse in New Memoir
fabiola Martínez, the Venezuelan model and former wife of Spanish singer and presenter Bertín osborne, is bravely sharing her story of childhood sexual abuse in her upcoming memoir, “When Silence Is No Longer an Option.”
The 51-year-old Martínez, who was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, to a humble family, uses her book to shed light on a painful chapter of her life that she kept hidden for decades.
“I was a child robbed of her childhood, forced to be strong too soon,” Martínez writes in the book, which is scheduled for official release in February 2025 but is currently available for pre-order. “I kept a secret that filled me with pain and marked me forever.”
Martínez recently spoke about her journey of healing at the Dona2 2024 awards ceremony hosted by the Kike Osborne Foundation. She revealed that she has been working with renowned psychologist Marian Rojas for nearly a year, crediting Rojas’s expertise in trauma with aiding her recovery.
“I’ve been working with therapy alongside Marian Rojas, who is wonderful,” Martínez shared. “She has a lot of experience with these types of problems and is helping me a lot.”
The road to healing, however, has been challenging. Martínez explained that the trauma of sexual abuse can deeply impact one’s sense of self.
“A trauma like this distances you from yourself, it disconnects you,” she said. “You disconnect from the child, from the teenager. The most intricate process now is to embrace that child again, reconcile with her, and heal.”
Martínez’s courage in sharing her story is a powerful reminder that healing is possible, and that speaking out can be a crucial step in the journey.
