Venezuela Achieves Second-Best Participation in Summer Paralympic Games

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have come to a close, and Venezuela has registered its second-best participation in a Summer Paralympic Games, winning a total of six medals (three gold, two silver, and one bronze).

In addition to the medals, the country secured 12 Paralympic diplomas and finished 34th in the overall medal table for the tournament, closely approaching its performance in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Among Latin American countries, Venezuela ranks fifth.

Medal Winners

The athletes who reached the podium include:

  • Anderson Santos, who won gold in the T11 400-meter dash class athletics.
  • Clara Fuentes, who won a gold medal in the under 50 kg weightlifting category with a Paralympic record.
  • Morillo’s cousins, who also took the gold and Paralympic record in the F46 class javelin throw.
  • Lisbeli Vera, who won a silver medal in the T47 400-meter dash class.
  • Alejandra Perez, who won a silver medal in the 200-meter T12 class.
  • Marcos Blanco, who completed the harvest with bronze in judo in the category under 60 kg, class J1.

Lisbeli Vera’s injury in the T47 100-meter dash final is notable, as she suffered a tear in the rectus femoris tendon in the right quadricep muscle, forcing her to abandon the competition.
