Table of Contents
Verizon is once again making changes to its older “play More” plans, and this time,it’s the popular perk of a free Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass subscription that’s on the chopping block. If you’re a customer on one of thes plans, you’ll want to pay close attention, as you’ll need to act fast to make the most of this benefit before it disappears.
what’s Changing and When?
Starting September 22, 2025, Verizon will officially discontinue the inclusion of Apple arcade and Google Play Pass with its Play More plans. Customers will see a notification at the top of their my Verizon app informing them of this upcoming change. While the app itself offers limited details,a recently updated support page on Verizon’s website confirms the timeline.
According to the support page, customers have until September 22, 2025, to utilize these perks. The services will then be removed from their accounts on September 25, 2025.
The Value of the Perk
These bundled subscriptions were a nice bonus for Play More plan subscribers.Apple Arcade was valued at $6.99 per month, while Google Play pass was priced at $4.99 per month. Customers were typically allowed to choose one of these services to include with their plan.
A Pattern of Plan Adjustments
This move isn’t entirely surprising, as Verizon has been steadily adjusting its older plans to encourage customers to migrate to newer offerings or to reduce the value of legacy benefits.
Price hikes and Perk Removals
You might recall that back in March of last year, verizon implemented a $4 per month price increase per phone line for these same older plans. This latest decision to remove the Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass perk is another step in what appears to be a broader strategy to phase out the attractive benefits associated with these legacy plans. Many are speculating that the free Disney+ bundle, another popular perk, could be next on the chopping block.
The Rising Cost of Traditional Carrier Plans
As these changes continue to roll out, it’s becoming increasingly clear that sticking with traditional carrier plans in the US can be a costly endeavor. With each adjustment, the appeal of prepaid services, which often offer more straightforward pricing and fewer bundled perks that can be removed, grows stronger. It certainly makes you think about the long-term value and cost-effectiveness of your current mobile plan.
