Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Manpower Faces Extortion Probe, palace Promises Swift Action
Jakarta – Deputy Minister of manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel, is currently under investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) following allegations of extortion related to the management of occupational safety and health (K3) certifications. The Presidential Palace has assured the public that if Noel is proven to be involved,he will be immediately replaced.
Minister of State Secretariat (Menesneg) Prasetyo Hadi conveyed this message, stating that the Palace is currently awaiting evidence of Noel’s involvement in the alleged wrongdoing. “If later it is proven,it will be changed as soon as possible,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Friday,August 21,2025.
President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly been informed of the situation and has entrusted the legal process to the KPK. Prasetyo added, ”Mr. President has received a report. He respects the process at the KPK and is inviting the legal process to be carried out.”
The Palace will await the outcome of the legal proceedings before considering a potential reshuffle. “We will wait for 24 hours for the results from the KPK.Again, if it is proven, a change will be made swiftly,” Prasetyo stated.
The KPK has confirmed that Noel, along with other individuals, is currently being questioned.The KPK Chairman revealed that evidence seized during the operation included cash, dozens of cars, and even a Ducati motorcycle.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability within its ranks. The public awaits the KPK’s findings and the subsequent actions taken by the Presidential Palace.
