Al-Raed Secures First Home Win of the Season in Saudi Roshan League
Al-Raed’s first football team has finally secured their first home win of the season, defeating Al-Fateh 2-1 in the eighth round of the Saudi Roshan League on Saturday.
The victory marked a significant milestone for Al-Raed, as it took more than 200 days for the team to win at its home stadium in Buraydah. Their last victory was on April 7, when they beat Al-Hazm by two clear goals in a league competition last season.
The match saw Al-Fateh Club’s duo, goalkeeper Peter Sabanos and defender Marwan Sadan, score own goals in the 45th + 3rd and 56th minutes, respectively. Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Anji scored Al-Fateh’s only goal in the 85th minute.
With this win, Al-Raed increased its score to 11 points, securing seventh place in the league standings. On the other hand, Al-Fateh’s score remained frozen, leaving them in fourth place.
Al-Fateh’s loss marked their sixth defeat out of eight matches played in the Roshan League this season, with only one win and one draw. The team’s performance has left them in an unfavorable position.
Historically, Al-Raed and Al-Fateh have met 31 times in the Saudi Professional League. Al-Fateh has secured 15 victories, while Al-Raed has won eight matches. The two teams have drawn eight matches.
In the next round, Al-Raed will face their Gulf rivals on Friday, while Al-Fateh will face their opponents Al-Fayha the following day.
