The shooting occurred on May 16, 2026, around 11 p.m. On Mount Gallant Road. According to police, Tidwell was shot outside her home and died shortly after the incident. While police initially reported the victim’s age as 18, her family has since identified her as 19 years old.
Surveillance Evidence
Home surveillance footage shared with WBTV shows the suspect, allegedly Hubbard, walking around the back of the residence on the night of May 16. The video captures the suspect carrying a long-barreled gun that was covered by a jacket. It remains unclear if this specific footage was recorded immediately before or after the fatal shooting took place.
The family of Camariya Tidwell told WBTV that they had installed the security cameras on May 13, 2026. This installation followed an incident on May 12, 2026, when someone shot into the family’s home, prompting them to contact the police.
Timeline of Events
The fatal shooting occurred during a series of events on May 16, 2026. The family reported that a shooting into their home occurred earlier that Saturday, and police were searching for Hubbard before the homicide was reported.
After the family contacted police regarding the daytime shooting, investigators searched the area for a vehicle and checked the last known address of Hubbard. Police later received a second call stating that the suspect had returned to the home and that Tidwell had been shot.
Hubbard was arrested on May 17, 2026. He faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
