Vietnam gold bar prices unchanged and ring prices fall

Domestic gold bar prices in Vietnam remained mostly unchanged on October 7, while gold ring prices fell across multiple brands. Major brands including SJC, PNJ, DOJI, and Bao Tin Manh Hai held their gold bar prices steady compared to the previous morning, while Phu Quy SJC lowered its buying price by 300,000 Vietnamese dong per ounce to reach a maximum selling price of 143.5 million dong per ounce.

Gold ring prices followed a downward trajectory on October 7, 2026, dropping uniformly across several major distributors. DOJI registered the steepest drop for gold rings, reducing both its buying and selling prices by 500,000 dong per ounce to settle at a maximum selling price of 143 million dong per ounce. PNJ and Bao Tin Manh Hai also lowered ring prices, while Phu Quy SJC decreased its ring prices by 300,000 dong per ounce.

Global Gold Prices Drop Below Domestic Market Rates

On the international market, spot gold traded at approximately 4,167.5 dollars per ounce on October 7, 2026, which translates to roughly 131.9 million dong per tael based on the Vietcombank exchange rate before taxes and fees. Global prices have dropped by 263.6 dollars per ounce, or 5.95 percent, over the preceding 30 days. This leaves the global gold price approximately 11.6 million dong per ounce lower than the domestic market rate.

Market Analysts Discuss Sovereign Debt and Currency Devaluation

Dhawan noted that traditional economic theory dictates a sharp rise in global bond yields should negatively impact gold, yet this relationship is weakening. Despite periods of weakness, gold prices have stayed above 4,000 dollars per ounce even as bond yields crossed the 5 percent threshold. Shane McGuire, a portfolio manager at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, suggested that ongoing challenges in the bond market could eventually increase gold allocations within institutional investment portfolios, noting that gold has historically occupied a very small fraction of strategic asset allocation in large U.S. pension funds.

Silver Market Rates in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

Domestic silver prices varied across major metropolitan areas on October 7, 2026. In Hanoi, silver traded at Phu Quy Gold, Silver and Gemstone Group at 2.151 million dong per ounce for buying and 2.218 million dong per ounce for selling. Other trading locations in Hanoi recorded silver at 1.815 million dong per ounce buying and 1.883 million dong per ounce selling. In Ho Chi Minh City, silver prices stood at 1.819 million dong per ounce for buying and 1.887 million dong per ounce for selling, while international silver traded at 60.65 dollars per ounce.
