Vietnam is rapidly gaining popularity among Russian tourists, joining established destinations like Türkiye, the UAE, china, Thailand, and Egypt. This surge is driven by increased flight accessibility and competitive pricing, making travel easier and more affordable for Russian visitors.
Shifting Russian Outbound Travel Trends
Russian outbound tourism has experienced a notable 7.8% increase in the frist half of 2025, with 13.6 million trips recorded across 138 countries. Vietnam’s rise is particularly notable, fueled by the introduction of direct flights and strategic charter programs.
Vietnam’s Growing Appeal
Vietnam has climbed to become the 7th most popular travel destination for Russian tourists,up from 9th in 2024. This growth is attributed to its vibrant culture, affordable travel options, and stunning landscapes.

Increased direct flight routes are a major factor. Aeroflot will launch a new direct route between Irkutsk and Cam Ranh in September 2025, expanding to four flights per week by October. Direct flights are also planned between Yakaterinburg and nha Trang, and connections from Novosibirsk and Vladivostok to Nha Trang will be enhanced.
The Impact of Charter Flights
Charter flights are playing a crucial role,with 58.9% of Russian tourists utilizing transit routes and 41.1% flying directly. These affordable options, combined with budget-kind accommodation and tour packages, are making Vietnam increasingly accessible.
Notable Growth Statistics
through the first six months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 259,849 Russian tourists, exceeding the total of 232,300 for all of 2024. By the end of July, arrivals reached 315,138, a 256% increase year-over-year.This demonstrates Vietnam’s strong position as a preferred destination for Russian travelers.
