Meteorological Department Announces Urgent: Tropical Depression Strengthening into Tropical Storm “Sulik” to Make Landfall in Vietnam Tonight

The Meteorological Department has issued an announcement regarding the storm ”Sulik” No. 9, stating that at 7:00 today (September 19, 2024), a depression along the coast of upper Vietnam strengthened into tropical storm “Sulik”.
As of 10:00, the center of the storm was located approximately 90 kilometers northeast of Quang Tri City, Vietnam, with a maximum wind speed near the center of about 65 kilometers per hour.
The storm is moving west at a speed of about 30 kilometers per hour and is expected to make landfall in central Vietnam tonight (September 19, 2024). It will then weaken accordingly.
This storm is expected to cause heavy to very heavy rains and strong winds in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern regions of Thailand, including Bangkok and surrounding areas.
People in the affected areas are advised to be alert to the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which could cause flash flooding and landslides, especially in areas on mountain slopes, near watercourses, and in marshy areas.

Additionally, the strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, the southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand will cause strong winds and high waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Boaters are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas prone to thunderstorms.
