Immigrant advocacy groups held a vigil in Dallas, Texas, on September 25, 2025, to honor the victims of a shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office.

The shooting occurred on September 24, 2025, leaving one detainee dead and two other individuals hospitalized. According to reporting from KERA, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that one of the injured migrants was a Mexican national.

Investigators identified the suspected shooter as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn of Fairview. FBI investigators stated that Jahn had planned the attack months in advance and intended to kill ICE agents to cause terror.

The vigil took place Thursday evening outside Parkland Hospital, where at least one of the injured victims was believed to be receiving treatment. Organizers used the gathering to call for an end to anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Azael Alvarez, a member of El Movimiento DFW, spoke during the event about the necessity of bringing attention to the situation in Dallas and other parts of the United States.

Advocacy groups are currently urging ICE to release information regarding the victims to their families. The groups are calling for a requirement that the agency notify families of new detainees within 12 hours of their detention.

Tony Rodriguez, a regional commander of the activist group the Brown Berets, also addressed the crowd. Rodriguez stated that such events would continue to happen unless the hate driving them is stopped.
