Citizens Take Action: Exposing Crimes on Telegram

In a shocking turn of events, citizens have taken matters into their own hands to expose rampant crimes on Telegram, a popular messaging app. Despite the investigative authorities’ lack of action, these brave individuals have infiltrated Telegram rooms, collected evidence, and handed it over to the police.

A Citizen’s Quest for Justice

Mr. Kim, a cybersecurity expert in his 20s, is one such citizen who decided to take action. He infiltrated about 10 Telegram rooms known for their illicit activities, including drug dealing, sexual exploitation, and document forgery.

“I heard that a lot of crimes happen in Telegram rooms, so I started collecting links and accessing them,” Mr. Kim explained.

A World of Crime

Each chat room can have up to 15,000 participants, and explicit conversations related to crime took place regularly. Mr. Kim shared his experience, “We talk about drugs every day. There are drugs and then there is also prostitution, weapons, etc.”

Deepfake sexual exploitation crimes were also prevalent, with photos of acquaintances being combined with illegal videos and distributed. Personal information, including names and addresses of victims, was shared indiscriminately.

A Lawless World

The Telegram rooms were a hub for all types of crimes, including selling Daepo phones and Daepo bank books used for voice phishing, and forging documents such as licenses and certificates.

“In 4 hours, more than 10,000 messages accumulate, 20,000, 30,000, etc. They accumulate like this in every room, so it is very difficult to read them all,” Mr. Kim said.

A Call to Action

Mr. Kim’s actions have sparked a wave of citizens coming forward to expose crimes on Telegram. The police are carefully examining the evidence and taking action.

This is a wake-up call for the investigative authorities to take action against these crimes. As Mr. Kim said, “To convey the message: ‘You can be punished by the justice system at any time and everyone is watching you.'”
